MANUAL RELEARN PROCEDURE
BMW 5 Series E39 (1997–2003)
- Adjust tyre pressures to placard value
- Turn ignition ON
- Press and hold RESET until the warning light turns yellow and begins flashing
- Drive the vehicle for up to 5 minutes
MANUAL RELEARN PROCEDURE
BMW E60 / E61, E90 / E91 / E92 / E93 and Similar Models with Older iDrive
- Adjust tyre pressures to placard value
- Turn ignition ON
- Open the iDrive menu and select Settings
- Select Vehicle or Vehicle Info
- Select TPMS or Flat Tyre Monitor
- Select Reset
- Drive the vehicle for up to 5 minutes
MANUAL RELEARN PROCEDURE
BMW E60 / E61 and Similar Models without iDrive
- Adjust tyre pressures to placard value
- Turn ignition ON
- Press and hold the Tire Pressure Warning button until the TPMS light stays on
- Drive the vehicle for up to 5 minutes
IDRIVE RESET PROCEDURE
BMW F-Series with iDrive — 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, X1, X3, X5, X6, Z4
Common on BMW F-series vehicles such as F20 / F21, F30 / F31 / F34, F10 / F11 / F07,
F22 / F23, F32 / F33 / F36, F48, F25, F15, F16 and similar models.
- Adjust tyre pressures to placard value
- Turn ignition ON
- Go to Vehicle Info or My Vehicle
- Select Vehicle Status
- Select Perform Reset, Reset TPM or Reset Tyre Pressure
- Start the engine while the vehicle remains stationary
- Confirm the reset
- Drive for 10 to 15 minutes until the system finishes learning
- Once complete, the system status should show active or normal
STALK / DASH RESET PROCEDURE
BMW F-Series without iDrive — 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series and Selected Models
- Adjust tyre pressures to placard value
- Turn ignition ON
- Use the turn signal lever tip to scroll until TPMS or RESET appears
- Press and hold the button on the lever tip until the check mark appears
- Start the engine if required
- Drive the vehicle for up to 5 to 10 minutes
G-SERIES IDRIVE RESET
BMW G-Series with iDrive — G20 / G21, G22 / G23 / G26, G30 / G31, G05, G06, G07, G29 and Similar
Common on newer BMW G-series models where the reset is performed through the vehicle settings menu.
- Set all tyres to the correct placard pressure
- Turn ignition ON
- Open My Vehicle
- Select Vehicle Status
- Select Tyre Pressure Monitor
- Select Perform Reset or Reset Tyre Pressure
- Start the engine and confirm the reset
- Drive the vehicle normally so the reset can complete
NEWER COMPACT BMW MODELS
BMW 1 Series F40 / F70, 2 Series F44 / F74 / G42, X1 U11, X2 U10
Newer compact BMW models may use updated iDrive screens and newer operating systems.
The menu wording can vary slightly depending on market and software version, but the process is generally the same.
- Adjust tyre pressures to placard value
- Switch ignition ON
- Open My Vehicle or Vehicle Apps
- Select Vehicle Status
- Select Tyre Pressure Monitor
- Select Reset or Perform Reset
- Confirm the current tyre pressures
- Drive the vehicle so the system can complete the relearn
LATEST 5 SERIES / 7 SERIES RESET
BMW 5 Series G60 / G61 and 7 Series G70
On the latest BMW models, the TPMS menu may sit under My Vehicle, Vehicle Status, or a tyre-specific submenu.
- Inflate all tyres to the correct placard pressure
- Turn ignition ON
- Open My Vehicle
- Select Vehicle Status
- Select Tyre Pressure Monitor
- Select Perform Reset
- Confirm the reset request
- Drive the vehicle until the tyre pressures register and the warning clears
SUV MODELS
BMW X3, X4, X5, X6, X7 Newer Models
- Adjust tyre pressures to placard value
- Turn ignition ON
- Go to My Vehicle
- Select Vehicle Status
- Select Tyre Pressure Monitor
- Select Reset or Perform Reset
- Start driving the vehicle
- Allow several minutes for the system to complete learning
IMPORTANT NOTE
Before Starting the BMW TPMS Reset
Always make sure all tyres are set to the correct placard pressure before beginning the relearn process.
If tyre pressures are incorrect, the TPMS warning light may stay on and the relearn may not complete properly.
BMW menu wording can change slightly depending on generation, market and software version.
You may see terms such as TPM, RDC, Tyre Pressure Monitor,
Reset Tyre Pressure or Perform Reset.
If your BMW does not complete the reset procedure, the sensor may be incorrect, not programmed correctly,
or there may be a fault with one or more sensors.
