Mazda TPMS Relearn Guide

Mazda TPMS Relearn Procedure

Learn how Mazda TPMS sensors are reset, relearned, or cloned depending on the vehicle model. Most Mazda models are fine and can usually be relearned or programmed in the normal way. The BT-50 is the main exception and usually requires the original sensors to be cloned.

Mazda TPMS Reset, Relearn & Cloning Information

Mazda uses different TPMS relearn methods depending on the model and year. Most Mazda vehicles are fine and can usually be reset, relearned, or programmed using standard TPMS procedures. However, the Mazda BT-50 is different and must be handled another way.

Important note for Mazda BT-50 models:
Most Mazda models can be programmed or relearned normally. However, the BT-50 is different. On BT-50 models, the original working sensor IDs need to be cloned onto the new sensors using our Automate TPMS Bluetooth Programmer. If you are replacing sensors on a BT-50, you will need this tool.

Mazda BT-50 Models

While most Mazda vehicles follow a normal TPMS relearn or programming procedure, the BT-50 generally requires the original sensors to be cloned onto the new ones. This means the old sensor data must be copied across rather than programming blank sensors in the usual way.

  1. Read the original working TPMS sensors from the vehicle.
  2. Use the Automate TPMS Bluetooth Programmer to copy the original sensor IDs.
  3. Write those IDs onto the new replacement sensors.
  4. Install the cloned sensors into the wheels.
  5. Drive the vehicle so the system can recognise the cloned sensor IDs.

Without cloning, new BT-50 sensors may not register correctly. That is why we strongly recommend purchasing the Bluetooth programmer together with your replacement sensors.

Most Other Mazda Models

Most other Mazda models are fine and can usually be reset, relearned, or programmed through standard TPMS procedures, depending on the exact model and year.

  • Drive relearn – the vehicle recognises the sensors after driving for a period of time.
  • Manual reset / calibration – reset through the dashboard or TPMS button, depending on model.
  • Tool-assisted programming or relearn – some models may require a TPMS tool.

Our Recommendation

If you have most Mazda models, standard TPMS procedures are usually all that is needed. If you have a BT-50, cloning is the safest and most reliable way to get the replacement sensors working correctly.
