A complete and transparent explanation of how cookies and similar tracking technologies are used on mytpms.com.au — covering what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and exactly how you can control or remove any cookie at any time.
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device — your computer, tablet, or smartphone — when you visit it. Cookies are not programs and cannot execute code, carry viruses, or install software. They simply store a short string of text that your browser retrieves on your next visit so that the website can recognise you, remember your preferences, or understand how you are using the site.
When you visit mytpms.com.au, our WordPress-powered platform and the third-party services integrated into it may set cookies on your device. Some of these cookies are set directly by us (known as first-party cookies), and others are set by external services we use to operate the site — such as Google Analytics, Meta (Facebook), and YouTube — which are called third-party cookies.
In addition to traditional cookies, this policy also covers the following similar tracking technologies that may be used on our website:
Cookies are used on virtually every website you visit. This policy is specifically about the cookies placed on mytpms.com.au and is written to give you a complete and honest picture of what is happening on our site.
MyTPMS Automate Sensors uses cookies for specific, legitimate purposes related to operating our online store, understanding how visitors use our site, and delivering relevant advertising to people who have previously shown an interest in our TPMS sensors and diagnostic tools. We do not use cookies for purposes that are unrelated to operating our business or serving our customers.
The specific purposes for which we use cookies are:
All cookies on our website fall into one of four internationally recognised categories. The categories below correspond to the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), as well as to the classifications used by the EU Consent Management Framework and the CCPA in California. Understanding these categories is the first step in understanding your rights.
Important: Strictly Necessary cookies cannot be disabled because they are required for the WooCommerce shopping cart and account login system to operate. All other cookie categories are optional and can be managed or disabled using the methods described in Section 10 of this policy.
Our website is built on the WordPress content management system and uses WooCommerce as our e-commerce platform. The following cookies are placed by WordPress and WooCommerce on every visitor's device and are technically required for the website to function. They do not track your browsing behaviour, are not used for advertising, and are never shared with third parties for commercial purposes.
All cookies in this section are first-party cookies set by mytpms.com.au. They are stored only on your device and on our secure web server. No personal data contained in these cookies is sold or shared.
| Cookie Name | Set By | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| wordpress_test_cookie | WordPress | Tests whether the visitor's browser accepts cookies. If this test fails, the site will inform the user that cookies must be enabled. Set and immediately deleted after the test. | Session |
| wordpress_logged_in_{hash} | WordPress | Identifies you as a logged-in customer when you access your MyTPMS Automate Sensors account. The hash portion is a unique identifier for our website and is not personally identifiable on its own. | Session / 14 days (if "remember me" is selected) |
| wordpress_sec_{hash} | WordPress | A security cookie used to verify that the session token belongs to the correct user. Protects against session hijacking attacks in the WordPress admin area. | Session |
| wp-settings-{user_id} | WordPress | Stores individual user interface preferences within the WordPress admin dashboard. Only set for logged-in users and administrators. | 1 year |
| woocommerce_cart_hash | WooCommerce | Stores a cryptographic hash of your cart contents. This allows the cart widget displayed in the site header to update accurately without reloading the full page. Contains no personal information. | Session |
| woocommerce_items_in_cart | WooCommerce | A simple flag (0 or 1) that tells the site header whether there are items in your cart so it can display the cart count indicator correctly. | Session |
| wc_session_cookie_{hash} | WooCommerce | A unique session identifier that links your browser to your cart and checkout data stored temporarily on our server. Deleted immediately when you close your browser or when 48 hours elapse without activity. | 2 days |
| wp_woocommerce_session_{hash} | WooCommerce | Contains session data including your cart contents and shipping address entered during checkout. Stored server-side with only the session key in the cookie. Ensures your checkout information is not lost if you navigate away briefly. | 2 days |
| woocommerce_recently_viewed | WooCommerce | Records which TPMS sensors or diagnostic tools you have recently viewed on our website. Powers the "Recently Viewed" product widget. This data never leaves your browser. | Session |
| PHPSESSID | PHP / Web Server | A standard PHP server-side session identifier. Maintains your connection to the server throughout your shopping session. Not set by WordPress directly but by the web server hosting our site. | Session |
MyTPMS Automate Sensors uses Google Analytics to collect anonymised, aggregated data about how visitors find and use our website. We use this data to understand which product pages are most popular, how customers navigate through our sensor and diagnostic tool categories, and where the customer journey breaks down so we can improve it. We also use Google Ads (including the Google Ads Remarketing and Conversion Tracking features) to measure the return on our paid advertising campaigns and to show targeted ads to previous visitors on the Google Display Network and partner sites.
All Google Analytics data we access is aggregated and anonymised. We do not use Google Analytics to identify individual visitors by name, and we have enabled IP anonymisation on our Google Analytics property, meaning your full IP address is never stored by Google on our behalf.
Google processes data from these cookies in the United States and other countries where Google operates its data centres. For further details on how Google uses this data, see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
| Cookie Name | Service | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | The primary Google Analytics cookie. Assigns a random, anonymous Client ID to your browser session to distinguish you from other visitors. Does not contain any personally identifiable information. Used to calculate metrics such as sessions, users, and pageviews in our analytics reports. | 2 years |
| _gid | Google Analytics | Works alongside _ga to distinguish users within a 24-hour window. Helps Google Analytics calculate how many people visit our website in a single day. Expires automatically after 24 hours. | 24 hours |
| _gat | Google Analytics | A throttling cookie that limits the rate at which requests are sent to Google Analytics. Ensures that high-traffic pages do not overload the analytics service. Contains only a value of 1. | 1 minute |
| _gac_{property_id} | Google Analytics / Google Ads | Stores information about the Google Ads campaign that brought you to our website. Used to attribute conversions (e.g. a sensor purchase) to the correct ad campaign. Helps us avoid spending advertising budget ineffectively. | 90 days |
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | The Google Ads conversion linker cookie. Allows Google Ads to measure when a visitor who clicked on one of our ads subsequently completed a purchase on mytpms.com.au. This is how we verify that our advertising investment is generating actual sales. | 90 days |
| _gcl_aw | Google Ads | Records the details of the last Google Ads click before a purchase, including campaign, ad group, and keyword. Used for last-click conversion attribution in our Google Ads account. | 90 days |
| IDE | Google DoubleClick | Used by the Google Display & Video 360 network to deliver targeted advertisements to users who have previously visited mytpms.com.au. Stores an anonymised identifier that is used to match your browser with ad inventory across websites in the Google Display Network. | 13 months |
| 1P_JAR | Collects website statistics and tracks conversion rates for our Google Ads campaigns. Used alongside IDE to improve the relevance of ads shown to past visitors. | 30 days |
You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits to our website by installing the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. This add-on works with all major browsers and instructs the Google Analytics JavaScript not to transmit visit data to Google.
To opt out of Google Ads personalised advertising, visit adssettings.google.com. You can choose to turn off personalised advertising in your Google account settings, or use the browser-based opt-out described in Section 10 of this policy.
Our website uses the Meta Pixel (formerly Facebook Pixel), a piece of JavaScript code that connects our website to our Meta advertising account. The Meta Pixel allows us to measure the effectiveness of our Facebook and Instagram advertising by understanding the actions visitors take on our website after clicking on one of our ads. It also enables us to build custom audiences of website visitors for remarketing — showing relevant TPMS product ads to people who have previously browsed our site on Facebook and Instagram.
Meta processes the data collected by these cookies in the United States and other countries where Meta operates. Meta's data practices are governed by the Meta Privacy Policy, available at facebook.com/policy.php. Under Australian Privacy Principle 8, we have taken reasonable steps to ensure that Meta, as an overseas recipient, handles personal data in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
| Cookie Name | Service | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _fbp | Meta (Facebook) | The primary Meta Pixel identifier cookie. Assigns an anonymous browser identifier used by Facebook and Instagram to match your browser to visitor events (such as a product page view or purchase) on our site. Used to deliver and measure the effectiveness of our paid social advertising campaigns. | 90 days |
| _fbc | Meta (Facebook) | Set when a visitor arrives at our website by clicking on a Facebook or Instagram advertisement. Stores the click reference so that Meta can attribute a subsequent purchase back to the correct ad campaign. Equivalent to the click ID used by Google Ads. | 90 days |
| fr | Meta (Facebook) | Meta's primary advertising cookie. Used to deliver, measure, and improve the relevance of advertisements on Facebook and Instagram. Works across websites that use the Meta Pixel and is set by Facebook's own domain. | 90 days |
You can control how Meta uses your data for advertising by visiting your Facebook Ad Preferences page. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising across Meta's platforms by adjusting your settings under Settings > Ads on Facebook or Instagram. Additionally, you can use the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out tool at aboutads.info/choices.
MyTPMS Automate Sensors features embedded YouTube videos throughout our website, including on product pages, the TPMS Relearn Guide, the How-To Videos section, and the DIY Kit instruction pages. These videos help our customers understand how to correctly install and program our TPMS sensors and use our diagnostic tools. YouTube (operated by Google LLC) may set cookies on your device when you visit a page containing an embedded video, even if you do not press play.
We have configured our YouTube embeds to use the youtube-nocookie.com privacy-enhanced mode wherever technically possible. This mode instructs YouTube not to store cookie information on your device unless you interact with the video. However, please note that Google may update YouTube's embedding behaviour, and we cannot guarantee that no cookies will ever be set before you play a video.
| Cookie Name | Service | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE | YouTube (Google) | Set by YouTube to estimate the bandwidth of the visitor's internet connection. Used to determine the best video quality to deliver for the embedded player. Also helps YouTube build a profile of your video viewing preferences. | 6 months |
| YSC | YouTube (Google) | Registers a unique session identifier for each YouTube video viewing session. Used to track what YouTube videos you watch during a session and to ensure that video play counts are attributed correctly. | Session |
| PREF | YouTube (Google) | Stores a range of user preferences for the YouTube video player, including autoplay settings, captions preferences, and volume level. Also used by Google to personalise video content recommendations across YouTube. | 8 months |
| yt-remote-device-id | YouTube (Google) | Stores a persistent identifier for your device to link your video player preferences across sessions and devices. Used by YouTube to remember how you prefer to watch embedded videos. | Persistent |
| yt-remote-connected-devices | YouTube (Google) | Stores information about devices that have been connected to your Google account. Used to synchronise YouTube preferences across multiple devices you own. | Persistent |
Our website uses WP Rocket, a WordPress caching and performance optimisation plugin developed by WP Media SAS (France). WP Rocket significantly reduces page load times for all visitors by generating static cached versions of our product pages, sensor comparison tables, and relearn guides. This means that when you visit a page you have seen before, your browser can often load it directly from its cache rather than making a full server request each time.
WP Rocket's caching system is server-side and does not involve placing tracking cookies on your device. However, the plugin does set a small number of technical cookies that tell the caching engine how to handle your session, particularly for logged-in users and for visitors who have items in the WooCommerce cart.
| Cookie Name | Service | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| wp_rocket_has_cache | WP Rocket | Indicates to WP Rocket that a cached version of the requested page is available. Allows the caching engine to serve the fast, pre-built version of the page to your browser rather than rebuilding it from the database. No personal data is stored. | Session |
| wp_rocket_no_cache | WP Rocket | Set when WP Rocket detects that your session should not be served a cached page. This happens when you are logged in to your customer account, have items in your cart, or are in the process of checking out. Ensures that logged-in and active cart sessions receive fully dynamic, personalised page content. | Session |
WP Rocket cookies are strictly performance-related. They contain no personal data, are never transmitted to WP Media SAS or any third party, and do not track your browsing behaviour in any way.
Cookies can be classified by how long they remain on your device. Understanding the difference between session and persistent cookies helps you make informed decisions about your privacy preferences.
| Category | Longest Cookie Duration | Cookie Name |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly Necessary | 14 days (if "remember me" is selected at login) | wordpress_logged_in_{hash} |
| Functional | 1 year | wp-settings-{user_id} |
| Analytics | 2 years | _ga (Google Analytics) |
| Advertising | 13 months | IDE (Google DoubleClick) |
| YouTube / Embedded | Persistent (no expiry) | yt-remote-device-id |
You have the right to accept, reject, or delete cookies at any time. Choosing to disable or delete certain cookies will not prevent you from using our website, though some features — particularly the shopping cart and checkout — depend on strictly necessary cookies and may not function correctly if those cookies are blocked. Below are all the methods available to you for managing cookies from mytpms.com.au.
All modern browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies through their settings menus. The step-by-step instructions for the most common browsers are as follows:
The following industry-operated opt-out tools allow you to opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies, including Google and Meta, across many websites at once:
Please Note: If you clear all cookies from your browser, your WooCommerce shopping cart will be emptied, and any login session on mytpms.com.au will be ended. Opting out of advertising cookies will not affect the prices you see or your ability to purchase from us — it simply means you may see less relevant advertisements for our products on other websites.
MyTPMS Automate Sensors is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in Schedule 1 of that Act. The APPs regulate how organisations like ours must collect, use, store, and disclose personal information, including information collected through cookies on our website.
If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles or the Privacy Act 1988 in relation to the use of cookies or personal data, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
We encourage you to contact us directly in the first instance at sales@mytpms.com.au before making a complaint to the OAIC, as we are committed to resolving privacy concerns directly and promptly.
Because MyTPMS Automate Sensors ships TPMS sensors and diagnostic tools to customers worldwide, visitors from many countries with their own data protection and cookie consent laws may access our website. The following is a summary of the key cookie-related rights that apply to residents of countries from which we commonly receive orders. These rights exist independently of and in addition to our obligations under Australian law.
If you are visiting our website from the European Union or United Kingdom, please note that the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK equivalent require that we obtain your prior, freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent before setting any non-essential cookies on your device. The strictly necessary cookies listed in Section 4 of this policy do not require your consent as they are technically required to deliver the service you have explicitly requested.
You may withdraw consent to non-essential cookies at any time by using your browser settings as described in Section 10, or by contacting us at sales@mytpms.com.au. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out on the basis of consent before its withdrawal.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know about personal information collected from you through cookies, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, to request deletion of personal information, and to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. MyTPMS Automate Sensors does not sell personal information. Cookie data used for advertising through Google Ads and Meta Pixel may qualify as "sharing" personal information under the CPRA. You may opt out of this sharing by using the tools described in Sections 5 and 6 of this policy or by contacting us directly.
Some of the cookies used on mytpms.com.au result in personal data being transferred to, and processed in, countries outside of Australia. This occurs because our third-party service providers — primarily Google and Meta — operate their data processing infrastructure in the United States and other countries. The following table identifies these international data transfers and the legal safeguards in place.
| Service Provider | Country | Data Transferred | Safeguard |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google LLC (Analytics & Ads) | United States | Anonymised usage data, advertising identifiers, conversion events | Google's EU Standard Contractual Clauses; Data Processing Terms compliant with APP 8; Data Privacy Framework |
| Meta Platforms Inc. (Facebook Pixel) | United States | Browser identifiers, page view events, conversion events | Meta's Standard Contractual Clauses; Business Terms compliant with APP 8 |
| YouTube (Google LLC) | United States | Video viewing behaviour, device identifiers | Google's EU Standard Contractual Clauses; same safeguards as Google Analytics above |
Under Australian Privacy Principle 8.1, before disclosing personal information to an overseas recipient, we are required to take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient will handle it consistently with the APPs. We have reviewed the data processing agreements of all three service providers above and are satisfied that they provide sufficient protections. However, please note that APP 8.2 provides that if an overseas recipient handles personal information in a way that would breach the APPs, MyTPMS Automate Sensors remains accountable under Australian law.
Our website contains links to external websites, including links to vehicle manufacturer pages in our TPMS Relearn Guide, supplier and brand websites, and social media platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram). When you click a link that takes you to an external website, that website will have its own cookie policy and privacy policy, and you will be subject to their terms — not ours.
MyTPMS Automate Sensors has no control over and accepts no responsibility for the cookies, tracking practices, or privacy policies of any external website, even if we have linked to it. We strongly encourage you to read the privacy and cookie policies of any third-party website before providing any personal information or accepting cookies from it.
The presence of a link to a third-party website on mytpms.com.au does not constitute an endorsement of that website's privacy or cookie practices by MyTPMS Automate Sensors.
mytpms.com.au is a specialist automotive parts website designed for adult vehicle owners, automotive technicians, mechanics, and wholesalers. Our products — including TPMS sensors, sensor programming tools, and diagnostic equipment — are not intended for, or marketed to, children under 18 years of age.
We do not knowingly collect personal information through cookies or any other means from children under 18. If we become aware that any personal data has been collected from a child under 18 without verifiable parental consent, we will take immediate steps to delete that data from our systems.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child may have provided personal information to us, please contact us immediately at sales@mytpms.com.au or call +61 1300 818 030 and we will act promptly.
Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that sends a signal to websites requesting that your browsing not be tracked. Currently, there is no universal technical standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, and no Australian, EU, or US law requires websites to honour them. As a result, our website does not currently alter its data collection practices in response to DNT browser signals.
We recommend using the browser settings and opt-out tools described in Section 10 as the most reliable and effective method for controlling how our website and third-party services track your activity. These tools are more precise and universally supported than the DNT signal.
If a universally accepted DNT standard is adopted by Australian regulators or the Global Privacy Control (GPC) standard becomes legally mandated for Australian businesses, we will update our practices accordingly and revise this policy to reflect that change.
MyTPMS Automate Sensors reserves the right to update this Cookie Policy at any time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, the services integrated into our website, applicable Australian privacy law, or international regulations relevant to our worldwide customer base. Any changes will take effect from the date they are published on this page, and the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy will be revised accordingly.
Where a change is material — for example, if we add a new category of advertising cookie, integrate a new analytics service, or change the retention period of a significant cookie — we will take reasonable steps to inform you. This may include displaying a notice on our website or, where we hold your email address, sending a notification. For minor updates such as clarifications to existing descriptions or corrections of typographical errors, we will update the policy without a separate notification.
We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies on our website. The most recent version will always be available at mytpms.com.au/cookie-policy.
This Cookie Policy is one part of a comprehensive suite of legal and policy documents that govern your relationship with MyTPMS Automate Sensors. This policy should be read alongside the following documents, all of which are publicly available on our website:
Our team is available Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 AEST. We are happy to answer any questions you have about the cookies we use, how to manage your preferences, or your rights under Australian privacy law.
