Replacing the Sensor Is Only One Part of the Job
A TPMS sensor is a small electronic device mounted inside the wheel. It measures tyre pressure and transmits that information wirelessly to the vehicle.
But the sensor does more than simply transmit pressure. It also broadcasts its own electronic identification number and communicates using a vehicle-specific TPMS protocol.
That means a replacement sensor must not only physically fit the wheel — it must also be correctly configured for the vehicle, and the BYD must be able to recognise it using the appropriate TPMS procedure.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO UNDERSTAND
Programming, Fitting and Relearning Are Three Different Things
These terms are often used as though they all mean the same thing. They don’t.
01 — PROGRAMMING THE SENSOR
Preparing the Replacement TPMS Sensor
The included Bluetooth TPMS Programmer communicates directly with compatible AUTOMATE sensors. It is used to configure the replacement sensor for the supported BYD application and can also perform supported activation, reading and cloning functions.
02 — PHYSICAL INSTALLATION
Installing the Sensor Inside the Wheel

This requires tyre-changing equipment and should be handled by a tyre shop or suitably equipped technician.

AN EASY WAY TO UNDERSTAND IT
Think of a TPMS Sensor Like a New Electronic Key
Imagine buying a replacement electronic key for your vehicle. The key may be physically identical to the original, but that alone does not necessarily mean the vehicle will recognise it.
The replacement TPMS sensor works in a similar way. It can be physically correct and capable of transmitting pressure, but it must also communicate using the correct protocol and, where required, the vehicle must recognise its electronic ID.
WHAT IS A TPMS SENSOR ID?
Think of It as the Sensor’s Electronic Serial Number
Every TPMS sensor transmits an identification code along with its pressure information.
This allows the vehicle’s TPMS system to distinguish the sensors that belong to the vehicle from other nearby TPMS sensors.
When replacement sensors use different IDs from the originals, the appropriate vehicle procedure may be required before those new IDs are accepted.

WHAT ABOUT CLONING?
Cloning Copies an Existing Sensor ID
Where an original sensor can still be read and the particular application supports cloning, its existing electronic ID can be copied to a compatible AUTOMATE replacement sensor.
Instead of introducing a completely new sensor identity, the replacement can transmit using an ID already associated with the vehicle.
Cloning is not necessarily the correct procedure for every BYD. The appropriate method depends on the exact vehicle and TPMS configuration.
WHAT IF THE ORIGINAL SENSOR IS DEAD?
A Completely Dead Sensor May Not Be Readable for Direct Cloning
Sensor cloning normally relies on knowing the original sensor ID. If the original sensor can no longer transmit and its ID cannot be read directly, another supported method may be required.
This is why checking the condition of the original sensors and confirming the correct BYD procedure before starting can save time later.

Step 1 — Confirm the Exact Vehicle
Confirm the BYD model, year and, where required, VIN or original sensor information so the correct compatible TPMS application can be identified.
Step 2 — Determine the Correct TPMS Method
Identify whether the vehicle requires normal sensor programming, cloning, a vehicle-specific relearn or supported OBD registration.
Step 3 — Prepare the Sensors
Use the Bluetooth Programmer and supported workflow to prepare the compatible AUTOMATE replacement sensors.
Step 4 — Have the Sensors Installed
Take the prepared sensors to a tyre shop or suitably equipped technician for physical installation inside the wheels.
Step 5 — Complete the Required Relearn / Registration
Follow the appropriate vehicle-specific procedure. Where supported and required, use the OBDII interface for the relevant vehicle-side TPMS procedure.
Step 6 — Verify the System
Confirm that the vehicle is receiving all four sensors correctly and that there are no unresolved TPMS warnings.
315 MHz & 433 MHz
Frequency Is Only One Part of Compatibility
TPMS sensors communicate using radio frequency. Compatible applications may operate using 315 MHz or 433 MHz.
However, two sensors using the same frequency are not automatically compatible. The sensor must also communicate using the correct supported protocol and configuration for the vehicle.
This is why the exact BYD model and year should always be confirmed before programming or installation.

You Still Need a Tyre Shop for Physical Installation
This is a DIY TPMS programming and setup kit. It does not replace tyre-changing equipment.
