Safety Warning: TPMS sensors are safety-critical automotive components. Incorrect installation can result in loss of tyre pressure monitoring function, tyre damage, seal failure, valve stem breakage, wheel balance issues, or unexpected tyre deflation while driving — all of which present a serious road safety risk. MyTPMS Australia strongly recommends that TPMS sensor installation is performed by a qualified and licensed automotive technician or tyre fitter using the correct torque specifications and fitting tools.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System sensors are physically mounted inside the tyre on the wheel rim via a valve stem assembly or are integrated into a band-clamp mechanism. The fitting process requires the removal of the tyre from the rim, insertion of the sensor valve assembly, and refitting of the tyre with a tyre mounting machine. This process involves specialised tools, knowledge of correct valve stem torque specifications, and understanding of sensor relearn procedures for the specific vehicle model.

Who Should Install TPMS Sensors
  • Licensed Tyre Fitters & Auto Technicians: TPMS sensor installation should be carried out by a professional trained in tyre servicing, familiar with valve stem seating requirements, and equipped with a torque wrench calibrated to the sensor manufacturer's specification. Correct Torque & Fitting Specifications

All Automate TPMS sensors are supplied with a valve stem assembly kit and the product packaging includes the manufacturer-specified torque values for the valve nut and all associated hardware. The typical valve nut torque specification for Automate sensors is between 3.5 Nm and 8.0 Nm depending on sensor variant — always refer to the specific product installation sheet included with your purchase. The use of an incorrectly calibrated torque wrench, air-powered tools, or manual over-tightening are the most common causes of preventable sensor damage during installation.

Tyre inflation must be checked and corrected to the vehicle manufacturer's recommended tyre pressure immediately after installation. The TPMS system cannot accurately monitor tyre pressures if the initial pressure set-point is incorrect.

Factors That Affect Sensor Compatibility
  • Vehicle Production Region: The same vehicle model sold in different countries may use a different TPMS frequency. For example, a Toyota Corolla manufactured for the Australian, Japanese, or European market may use 433.92 MHz sensors, while the same model built for the North American market uses 315 MHz sensors. Fitting a sensor of the incorrect frequency will result in the TPMS system failing to detect the sensor entirely.
  • Model Year Production Cut-Off: TPMS systems were introduced on different model year vehicles at different dates depending on the manufacturer. A TPMS sensor only activates its low-pressure warning when tyre pressure falls below a factory-set threshold — typically 25% below the vehicle manufacturer's recommended inflation pressure. A tyre can be significantly under-inflated before the TPMS warning activates. Do not rely solely on TPMS alerts as a substitute for regular manual tyre pressure checks using a calibrated pressure gauge.

  • Temperature-Related Pressure Variations: Tyre pressure naturally changes with ambient temperature — approximately 0.07 bar (1 PSI) per 5.5°C change in temperature. In cold weather, pressure can drop enough to activate the TPMS warning light even when no actual loss of air has occurred. If the warning activates in cold conditions, check and correct tyre pressure manually before driving. The warning light should extinguish once correct pressure is restored and the vehicle is driven a short distance.
  • Sensor Battery Life: Internal TPMS sensors contain a non-replaceable lithium battery with a designed service life of approximately 5–10 years, depending on driving frequency and sensor activation rate. MyTPMS Australia provides technical support for DIY kit customers via phone, email, and live chat. Our support team can assist with programming steps, relearn procedures, and tool operation questions. However, we are not able to provide remote guidance for physical tyre fitting work — if you encounter difficulty at the physical installation stage, we recommend engaging a local tyre fitting service to assist with the tyre demount, sensor installation, and tyre remount before you complete the programming steps yourself.

Purchasing and using a DIY kit does not affect your rights under our Lifetime Warranty for sensor defects, provided the sensor is installed correctly and any damage is the result of a manufacturing defect rather than installation error. Sensor damage caused by tyre fitting equipment, incorrect torque, or improper handling during installation is not covered under warranty.

Safe and effective use of these tools requires familiarity with TPMS system operation, OBD II port protocols (for the A02), and vehicle-specific programming procedures.

Correct Use of the Automate A01 & A02 Diagnostic Tools
  • A01 TPMS Tool: The A01 is designed to activate, read, and display TPMS sensor data via Bluetooth to the companion smartphone application. It can trigger sensors, read sensor IDs, and identify sensor fault codes. The A01 is suitable for sensor identification, diagnosis of TPMS system issues, and relearn assistance. It does not connect to the OBD II port and should be used with the Automate App, available via the Application Downloads page on our website.
  • A02 TPMS Tool with OBD: The A02 includes all A01 functionality and additionally connects to the vehicle's OBD II diagnostic port, enabling it to initiate OBD II TPMS relearn procedures on compatible vehicles and read vehicle-level TPMS fault data. The OBD II connector must only be inserted and removed with the vehicle ignition off unless specifically instructed otherwise by the tool's programming procedure. Section 11
Battery Safety, Hazardous Materials & Safe Handling

TPMS sensors contain sealed, non-replaceable lithium coin-cell batteries. Bluetooth diagnostic tools such as the Automate A01 and A02 contain rechargeable lithium-polymer batteries. These batteries are subject to specific safety requirements under Australian and international transport, storage, and disposal regulations.

Lithium Battery Safety Requirements
  • Do Not Expose to Heat or Fire: Lithium batteries must not be exposed to temperatures exceeding 60°C (140°F), open flame, or direct sunlight for extended periods. Overheating a lithium battery can cause thermal runaway, which may result in fire, explosion, or the release of toxic gases.
  • Keep Away from Liquids: TPMS sensors are mounted inside a pressurised tyre environment and are rated to resist moisture ingress; however, do not submerge sensors in liquids or operate diagnostic tools in wet conditions. Diagnostic tool charging ports must be kept dry.
  • Do Not Pierce, Crush, or Disassemble: Never attempt to open, puncture, crush, or mechanically damage any product containing a lithium battery. Physical damage to a lithium battery can cause an internal short circuit and thermal event. If a sensor or tool is physically damaged, remove it from use immediately and dispose of it correctly.
  • Shipping Compliance — IATA DGR & IMDG Code: Products containing lithium batteries are subject to transport regulations under the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and the IMDG Code for sea freight. All lithium battery products shipped by MyTPMS Australia are packed and declared in compliance with these regulations. International customers should ensure that import regulations in their country regarding lithium battery-containing products are observed on receipt.
First Aid — Battery Exposure

In the unlikely event of battery leakage, avoid contact with the leaking substance. If the substance contacts skin or eyes, flush immediately with clean water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention. Do not attempt to use a leaking battery product. Seal the damaged item in a plastic bag and contact your local hazardous waste disposal service or contact us for disposal guidance.

Products containing lithium batteries shipped by MyTPMS Australia are packed in accordance with UN 3091 (lithium metal batteries contained in equipment) or UN 3481 (lithium ion batteries contained in equipment) regulations as applicable. Our packaging complies with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) requirements for domestic Australian shipments and IATA requirements for international air freight.

Environmental Responsibility, e-Waste & End-of-Life Disposal

MyTPMS Automate Sensors is committed to responsible environmental practice in both the sale of electronic products and in guiding our customers toward correct end-of-life disposal of TPMS sensors, diagnostic tools, and associated battery-containing products. Electronic and battery-containing products must not be disposed of in general household waste in Australia or in most other countries to which we ship.

Australian e-Waste Disposal Requirements

In Australia, the disposal of electronic products — including TPMS sensors and battery-containing diagnostic tools — is governed by the Product Stewardship Act 2011 (Cth) and the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (NTCRS). While TPMS sensors and automotive diagnostic tools are not directly captured by the current NTCRS consumer take-back scheme, they contain materials — including lithium, copper, electronic circuit boards, and plastics — that should be diverted from landfill through appropriate e-waste recycling channels.

Customers in Australia are encouraged to dispose of end-of-life sensors and tools through:

  • Participating council e-waste drop-off programs operated by your local government. Many Australian councils run periodic or permanent e-waste collection events at which TPMS sensors and small electronic tools can be deposited free of charge.
  • Commercial e-waste recyclers accredited under the Responsible Recycling (R2) or e-Stewards standards, which can be located through the Planet Ark Recycling Near You directory at recyclingnearyou.com.au.
  • Battery recycling drop-off points for lithium coin cells and lithium-polymer batteries operated by participating retailers. The B-cycle battery stewardship scheme at bcycle.com.au accepts small household batteries at drop-off points located in major retailers nationwide.
International e-Waste & Battery Disposal Requirements

International customers are advised to comply with the e-waste and battery disposal laws applicable in their own country. The European Union's WEEE Directive (2012/19/EU) and Battery Directive (2006/66/EC) (updated by Regulation (EU) 2023/1542) require end-of-life electronic products and batteries to be returned to designated collection points. In the United Kingdom, equivalent obligations apply under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013. Customers in the USA should check applicable state-level e-waste legislation, as requirements vary by state.

Section 13
Child Safety, Handling Precautions & Product Choking Risks

Keep all TPMS sensors, valve stem hardware, diagnostic tools, and accessory components out of the reach of children under 12 years of age. TPMS sensor valve stem kits include small metal nuts, washers, valve cores, and cap components that present a choking hazard. Lithium coin-cell batteries, if accessible, present a severe ingestion hazard and can cause serious internal burns if swallowed. Seek immediate medical attention if a child ingests any component.

TPMS sensor packs and DIY kit packaging do not constitute children's products and are not subject to Australian children's product safety standards under the Competition and Consumer (Safety Standards) (Products Containing Button/Coin Batteries) Regulations 2020 in the context of consumer toy or care products. However, they do contain small parts and battery components that present identical hazards. Customers who purchase these products are responsible for ensuring they are stored and handled safely in households with children present.

Safe Storage Guidance
  • Store unpacked sensors, valve stem kits, and diagnostic tools in a secure location inaccessible to children — a locked toolbox, high shelf, or dedicated workshop storage area is recommended.
  • Button and coin-cell batteries used in TPMS sensors are sealed within the sensor housing and are not normally accessible. However, if a sensor housing is cracked or damaged, the battery may become exposed. Do not use damaged sensors and dispose of them through appropriate e-waste channels immediately.
  • Retain the original product packaging for reference until installation is complete, but do not allow children to access packaging containing small-part accessories such as valve kits.

Australia's Product Safety Australia programme, operated by the ACCC, provides comprehensive guidance on product safety obligations for sellers and consumers at productsafety.gov.au. MyTPMS Australia fully supports all ACCC product safety guidance and will promptly cooperate with any safety notification or recall directive issued by Product Safety Australia.

Product Quality Assurance, Testing & Warranty Commitment

Every TPMS sensor and diagnostic tool sold by MyTPMS Automate Sensors is subject to quality assurance processes before it is made available to customers. Our Automate-brand sensors are manufactured under strict quality control conditions at our contracted manufacturing partners and undergo incoming inspection at our Springvale warehouse before being dispatched.

Quality Assurance Processes Applied to Our Products
  • Frequency Validation: All sensors are tested to confirm they are transmitting on the specified frequency (315 MHz or 433.92 MHz) and that the sensor ID is correctly assigned and readable by a compatible TPMS diagnostic tool before dispatch.
  • Physical Inspection: Each unit is inspected for physical integrity — valve stem housing, sensor body seal, housing integrity, and valve stem threading are checked before packaging.
  • Battery Level Check: Sensors are tested to confirm the internal battery is above minimum operating voltage at the time of shipment, consistent with the expected sensor service life stated in the product documentation.
  • Diagnostic Tool Function Test: All A01 and A02 diagnostic tools are activated and tested for Bluetooth connectivity, display function, and sensor activation capability before packaging.
Lifetime Warranty on Automate Sensors

Our Automate-branded TPMS sensors carry a Lifetime Warranty against manufacturing defects. If a sensor fails due to a proven manufacturing defect at any point during its service life, we will replace it at no cost to you. The warranty does not cover damage caused by incorrect installation, improper use, physical impact during fitting, or normal wear and progressive battery depletion at the end of the stated battery service life.

Our warranty commitment operates in addition to, and does not limit, the consumer guarantees to which you are entitled under the Australian Consumer Law. Under the ACL, our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded, including that the goods are of acceptable quality, fit for purpose, and match the description provided. If a product you purchase from us fails to meet these guarantees, you are entitled to a remedy from us regardless of any additional warranty terms.

Product Recall Procedures & Safety Incident Reporting

MyTPMS Australia takes product safety recalls seriously and has procedures in place to act promptly and transparently in the event that a product safety concern is identified in any item we supply. Our recall procedures are designed to comply with the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) and the ACCC's product recall guidelines published at productsafety.gov.au.

Upon receiving credible information suggesting a product safety risk — through customer complaints, supplier notifications, or our own testing — we immediately suspend further sale of the affected product and initiate an internal review to assess the nature, scope, and severity of the risk.

Where a genuine safety risk is confirmed, we notify the relevant product supplier and, where required, report the issue to the ACCC via the mandatory recall notification process under the Australian Consumer Law. We comply fully with all mandatory recall directions issued by the ACCC or any relevant state product safety authority.

Customer Notification
We will contact affected customers by email (using the address provided at the time of purchase) and publish a prominent notice on our website advising customers of the recall, the safety risk, and the remedy offered. We will offer an immediate full refund, free replacement, or repair as appropriate to the nature of the safety issue.

Returns & Resolution
Customers affected by a recall will be provided with a free return shipping label and full instructions for the return process. Remedies will be processed within 5 business days of the recalled product being returned to us or, where we instruct customers not to return the product for safety reasons, within 5 business days of the recall notification.
Reporting a Product Safety Concern

If you notice a product safety issue with any item purchased from MyTPMS Automate Sensors — including any sensor that shows signs of leaking, cracking, unusual heating, or failure to transmit after correct installation — please report it to us immediately at sales@mytpms.com.au or call +61 1300 818 030. Provide your order number, the product name and batch/lot number (if visible on packaging), and a description of the issue. We will respond within one business day.

You may also report product safety concerns directly to the ACCC's Product Safety team at productsafety.gov.au/report, or to the relevant product safety authority in your own country.

Section 16
Limitation of Liability for Safety & Installation Claims

Nothing in this section limits or removes any right or remedy that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), or any other applicable mandatory consumer protection or product safety legislation. Your statutory rights under Australian Consumer Law are preserved fully and unconditionally.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MyTPMS Australia's liability for any claim arising from the purchase, installation, use, or misuse of any product sold through our website is limited to the total purchase price actually paid by you for the specific product to which the claim directly relates. We do not accept liability for consequential, indirect, or economic loss beyond the product value, except where such liability cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other mandatory legislation.

Exclusions from Our Liability
  • Incorrect Installation by Third Parties: We accept no responsibility for damage to sensors, wheels, tyres, or any other vehicle component caused by incorrect installation, application of incorrect torque values, or use of inappropriate tools by the customer or a third-party installer.
  • Incompatible Fitment: Where a customer purchases a sensor that is not compatible with their vehicle despite having been provided with or having access to our compatibility guides, and installs the sensor without first confirming fitment with our team, we do not accept liability for the resulting TPMS system malfunction.
  • Normal Component Degradation: TPMS sensors have a finite service life determined largely by the internal battery. Battery depletion is a normal and expected end-of-life condition and is not a manufacturing defect. We do not accept warranty or liability claims for sensors that fail solely due to battery depletion after the stated battery service life.
  • Misuse of Diagnostic Tools: Any damage to a vehicle's TPMS ECU, on-board diagnostics system, or other electronic components caused by the misuse of our diagnostic tools — including connecting tools to incompatible vehicle protocols or failing to follow the tool's operating instructions — is the sole responsibility of the operator.
  • Reliance on Website Content Without Independent Verification: The relearn guides, compatibility charts, how-to videos, and technical articles on our website are provided as general guidance resources. We do not accept liability for loss or damage resulting from sole reliance on website content without independently verifying compatibility and procedure applicability for a specific vehicle.

Where a product is found to have a genuine manufacturing defect that causes foreseeable damage — for example, a sensor housing that fails structurally and causes valve stem damage to the wheel rim — we will assess the claim in good faith and, subject to the Australian Consumer Law, may offer to contribute to remediation costs in addition to replacing the defective product. International Shipping, Customs Compliance & Import Regulations

MyTPMS Australia ships TPMS sensors, diagnostic tools, and accessories worldwide. International customers are responsible for ensuring that the products they order comply with the import regulations, customs requirements, and product standards of their destination country before placing an order. The following information is provided to assist international buyers in understanding their obligations.

Import Duties, Taxes & Customs Clearance

All prices displayed on our website are in Australian Dollars (AUD) and are inclusive of Australian Goods and Services Tax (GST) for Australian customers. For international customers, GST is not applicable, and prices are displayed exclusive of any destination country taxes, import duties, or customs clearance fees. Any import duties, tariffs, value-added taxes (VAT), goods and services taxes, or customs examination fees charged by the destination country's customs authority are the sole responsibility of the recipient.

Product Import Approval by Country

TPMS sensors contain radio frequency transmitting components and lithium batteries, both of which may require import declarations or pre-approval in certain countries. Australian Export Compliance

MyTPMS Australia complies with the Autonomous Sanctions Act 2011 (Cth) and all applicable Australian export controls administered by the Defence Export Controls office of the Australian Department of Defence. TPMS sensors and consumer-grade automotive diagnostic tools are not classified as controlled military or dual-use technology under the current Defence and Strategic Goods List (DSGL). All exports are made in full compliance with Australian customs export requirements under the Customs Act 1901 (Cth).
